Hundreds of thousands of cars move daily in Africa and around the world. Many of these cars are used and cause a lot of environmental pollution. On the other hand, there are motorcycle taxis which cause a lot of disorder and pollution. Kampala is the city that produces the most pollution in all of Africa. That's why the ridesharing app was created.
What is this app about?
Many people use it when they go to work to save some money, due to the increase in fuel, raw materials and cost. The application is called FunaRide, and through it people who have their own vehicles can open it to see if there is someone who is going the same way, so that they can give them a ride. If there is someone who asks them for a ride in the app and if the car owner agrees, then they just confirm the request.
Traveling in this way has been very economical both for owners of private vehicles and for users who move every day. Many users prefer to use this mode of transportation instead of using public transportation or motorcycle taxis, because it is cheaper and more comfortable.
The application is similar to taxi applications, but it differs in that the drivers are not specifically dedicated to that, but anyone who has a car with 4 passengers can take another person who makes a request through the application .
The application was created in the midst of the pandemic when many lost their jobs and it helped them save. One of the ideas for which the application was created was to reduce traffic jams and pollution. The idea of carpooling when it is empty will help reduce pollution in Kampala and all of Uganda.
The application will undoubtedly be very useful for people with their own cars who regularly travel alone, as well as for people who need a raid in their daily lives. Many cars drive empty through the city, so why not carpool?
